For the first time in India, the Bakery industry, which is expected to be one of the fastest growing segments of food businesses, will have an institute that provides training with international certification and twinning programs with bakery
training colleges in USA and Korea. Well designed industry-guided programs are for students planning to make a career in the sector as also as well as professionals keen on skill development. The world class infrastructure and training programs will also provide small to medium entrepreneurs in the industry, a platform to scale their knowledge and benchmarking their expertise with global food industry practices.

We are pleased to launch India’s Largest and State-of-the-Art Bakery Technology & Management Institute at Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida, NCR Delhi.

As India’s largest and state-of-the-art institute dedicated to education, training and research in bakery technology and allied food disciplines, Assocom Institute of Bakery Technology and Management (AIBTM) will start its courses from the month of July this year.

For its programs, courses, training methodology and faculty orientation, AIBTM has partnered with USA based AIB International School of Baking, (formerly known as American Institute of Baking) and America Society of Baking (ASB). Its specialized bakery and confectionery craft courses are designed with the collaboration of Hyejeon College, South Korea. This collaboration will drive internationally recognised certification, twin degree programs, students & staff exchange and study abroad programs. AIBTM’s board of directors, technical and advisory council comprises global experts from USA, South Korea as well as India’s private and public sector.

With the focus on international standard education, the courses will span science and technology related to Baking (bread, biscuits, cookies, cakes, pastry, desserts etc), Milling, Allied Food Technology, Food Safety & Quality Management, Bakery Management (Engineering/Operations/Maintenance/Supervision) and most importantly soft skills training (language, terminology, processes etc) required for human resources in the industry. Special focus will also be given to development of general management science of marketing, sales, materials management, procurement, supply chain and cost control. These programs are designed to benefit all segments of the industry from retailers, wholesalers, producers, exporters, importers, entrepreneurs and also seasoned professionals. Flexible modules such as part time, distance learning, weekend, evening as well as bespoke program for target groups are available.

Special social programs for skills development of un-employed and under-employed individuals is also part of the curriculum, including ‘Bakery Entrepreneurship for Women & Rural Youth’ In par with international facilities, along with internet based study, library, the institute will also provide laboratory & testing facilities, knowledge centre and most important of all an incubator facility for the industry as well as entrepreneurs to test their ideas, products, processes for final transition of plans from a testing to an operations phase of the business.

With India’s emergence as one of the leading culinary centres of the world, the food industry of India has a mammoth opportunity to leverage. Especially in terms of generating new business as well as creating employment. For the industry to be of international standard, it requires a 360 degree educational infrastructure which trains resources in skills, processes, tools and techniques necessary to efficiently run the business and develop global expertise to capitalize on the opportunity.
